RESERVATIONS FOR SCHOOL & YOUTH PROGRAMS

Please note that 15-day advance reservations are required for all group visits and school programs. The Maymont Foundation reserves the right to deny admission to any group without a 15-day advance reservation.

To Make Reservations...

  1. Decide if you will want to schedule a program, tour or both.
  2. Choose your optimum program date and two alternate dates.
  3. Determine the number of students and chaperones who will be attending.
  4. Call the appropriate department Monday-Friday between 9am-4:30pm for a reservation:

  • Self-guided tours of the Nature Center: $2 per person suggested group donation
  • Maymont House guided tours: $5 fee per person

NOTE TO RICHMOND AREA PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEMS:
Due to special funding by the city of Richmond and the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover and Henrico, these public school systems are exempt from fees for some programs in this guide. Each school in these districts is limited to four environmental programs and four historical programs. School programs are offered Monday through Friday, October through December and February through May.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
  • Reservations are required 15 days in advance for all group visits and are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • Upon registration, a confirmation packet will be sent. Please complete and return the confirmation form to guarantee your reservation. Failure to return confirmations within three weeks (or payment one week in advance) may result in cancellation of the program(s).
  • If reservations must be cancelled, please call Maymont immediately. Due to limited availability, programs are not guaranteed to be rescheduled.
  • One adult chaperone is required for each 10 students.
  • Group size is limited to 30 students per program.
  • Programs are offered rain or shine, except where noted.
  • School programs scheduled in the Nature Center include access to the Nature Center Exhibits.
  • Maymont school programs have been developed to support many of the Virginia Standards of Learning for History, Social Science, Science and Math. These are noted following each program description.
  • Notify Maymont staff in advance of any special needs for mentally or physically challenged students or gifted students so appropriate accommodations can be made.
  • Schools are welcome to enjoy a picnic lunch on the lawn. However, there are no picnic tables for seating.

Carriage and Tram Rides are available, weather permitting, with advance registration. Call 804-358-7166, ext. 309 for reservations or email rentals@maymont.org. Rides are $3 for adults; $2 for children under 12.

GIRL SCOUT PROGRAMS

Advance troop registration is required for all programs. Programs fill quickly. For best availability, please call on the opening date. A 50% deposit is required upon registration. Unless otherwise noted, Maymont's programs fulfill the majority of activity requirements for each Try-It, badge or patch with advice and/or materials for completion either individually or as a troop after the program. Those marked with an asterisk (*) are designed for fun and enjoyment and do not necessarily complete recognitions. Programs support some of the Virginia Standards of Learning.
