Maymont Welcomes Bob Halbruner as New Director of Development

The Maymont Foundation is pleased to announce that Bob Halbruner will join its senior leadership team as Director of Development on July 26.

“Bob has a demonstrated track record of melding development and branding communications in building his case to support an institution,” said Norman Burns, Maymont Executive Director. “In addition, his creativity as a performing artist gives him a unique insight into how cultural organizations reach and inspire audiences at a real emotional level – a key element in understanding and explaining the Maymont Experience.”

Halbruner will supervise all of Maymont’s fundraising efforts including corporate and individual donations, sponsorships, grants and planned giving as well as the Adopt A Living Thing, Dooley Noted Society and Maymont Council campaigns.

“We in Richmond are lucky to have an institution like Maymont that welcomes residents, newcomers and visitors alike to a place where telling our stories, preserving our history and igniting new possibilities for tomorrow are all rolled into one,” Halbruner said. “I am invigorated by the opportunity to work on behalf of the community of support that values Maymont’s places, inhabitants and many education programs.”

Halbruner previously served as the Director of Advancement & Patron Communications for the Richmond Symphony, overseeing annual fund development and earned revenue. He joined the Symphony during its transition into its new home at Richmond CenterStage, and he was chosen as one of 24 national participants in the League of American Orchestras Executive Leadership Program – a two-year program focusing on development and patron relation issues facing the symphonic field. Halbruner also worked as Vice President of Marketing & Communications at the Arts & Science Council (ASC) in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the country’s largest and most successful “United Arts Fund” and “Local Arts Agency” organizations.

Halbruner is a graduate of Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins University and holds two degrees in piano performance. He and his wife, Aimee, who also works in the symphonic field, live in Richmond with their son, Max.

Since 1975, Maymont has been operated and maintained by the non-profit Maymont Foundation. Donations from individuals, corporate sponsors and foundations enable Maymont to remain open to everyone.

Maymont Foundation administrative offices are located at 1700 Hampton Street in Richmond, Virginia. For more information, call 804-358-7166, ext. 310.
